Mrs. Dianne Wood Byrd, age 69, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC. Graveside Funeral Services will be 2:00PM-Monday, April 20, 2021 at Roselawn Cemetery in Benson, NC. Rev. Bennie Grimes will officiate.
Mrs. Byrd was born in Harnett County, NC to the late Lee Junior and Irene McLamb Wood. She was preceded in death by an infant son, brother, Gary Lee Wood and her brother-in-law, Glenwood Byrd. Mrs. Byrd and her husband Pete, have owned and operated Pete Byrd’s Gas and Grocery since 1984. She was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to many, and known for her God given talent of flower arrangements. She loved and spoiled her precious grandchildren.
Surviving include her husband of 50 years, Pete Byrd; children, Shannon Austin and husband, Jay; Samuel Scott Byrd, and Tina Barbee and husband, Todd; grandchildren, Dillon Austin (Kelsey), Riley Austin (Lauren), Madison Barbee and Carmen Barbee; brother, Curtis Wood and fiancée, Tammy; brother-in-law, Charles Byrd and wife, Sue; many loving nieces and nephews; aunts, Hazel Wood and Lorean McLamb.
There will be a closed casket open door visitation from 9:00AM-12:00PM-Monday, April 20, 2021 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC.
The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at Roselawn Cemetery in Benson, NC, and other times at the home.
In accordance with NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W’s: wait, wash, and wear a face covering. Mask are required for all services.
