Dolores Thorne Pittman Gurganus, age 87, died Tuesday evening in the Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville. Born September 24, 1929 in Johnston County to the late Lemuel Oscar and Ila Frances Thorne Pittman, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Lester Odell “Bo” Lamm and Joseph Gurganus. Dolores was a caseworker with the Martin County Health Department for several years and was a member of the Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church near Kenly.
A funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Micro Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are her son, Darrell Lamm of Farmville; step-son, Michael Gurganus and wife Nancy of Silver Springs, MD; step-daughter, Cindy Clark and husband Brian of Simpson; sister, Melba Warren of Smithfield; three grandchildren, Sequora Hernandez, Joshua Lamm and Jodi Lamm; step-grandson, Andrew Gurganus; three great grandchildren, Alyssa Hernandez, Nerina Berberi and Gabriel Berberi; cousin, that was like her sister, Nina Pittman Davis of Micro and several other cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children Greenville, SC, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service.
