Smithfield – Doris Brown Hughes, age 89, died Thursday, March 16, 2017 in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born March 14, 1928 in Johnston County she was a daughter of the late James Condary and Addie Pittman Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Hughes, Jr.; and a sister, Hazel Brown Lane. Doris was a member of Yelverton Grove Orginial Free Will Baptist Church in Smithfield.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Yelverton Grove OFWB Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday just prior to the service
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
