Benson, NC: Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Blackman Tart, age 86, of 7324 NC 50 South died Monday at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Dr. Robert Cooke and Rev. Thomas Collings. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Tart was born May 11, 1931 in Harnett County. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sherwood Smith “Snoot” Tart; a son, Danny Austin Tart; parents, Charlie and Mamie Blackman; and brothers, Robert Gerald McLamb and James Hiram McLamb. Mrs. Tart was the office manager and a licensed insurance agent for Robert A. Tart Insurance Company in Benson. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir and served in many capacities.
Surviving include her daughter & son-in-law, Jean T. & Danny Stancil of Smithfield; son & daughter-in-law, Ernie Wayne & Jo Ellen Tart of Wilmington; grandsons, Daniel Tart and Brantley Tart & fianceé, Sarah Delk; and several nieces & nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday.
