    Selma – Douglas Wayne Carter, age 63, died Sunday, September 3, 2017 in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Born August 19, 1954 in Wake County he was a son of the late June and Evelyn Mozelle Carter. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Alline Rogers. Douglas was an evangelist for the Church of God for many years. He loved singing, working on computers, yard work, and Jimmy Swaggert. Douglas installed carpet for over 30 years. Douglas was best known for his love for his family, especially his wife, four daughters and nine grandkids.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2017 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Bishop Jerry Waters officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Selma.
    Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Teresa Carter; daughters, Christy Shirley and husband Marty of Selma, Rosa Hales and husband Donnie of Middlesex, Priscilla Roberts and husband Mark Anthony of Clayton, and Marie Wilson of Clayton; brothers, Lawrence Carter and wife Rhonda of Zebulon, Robert Carter and wife Shirley of Youngsville, and Bobby Carter of Clayton; sisters, Carolyn Avery and husband Wayne of Wendell and Diane Drapper and husband Sammy of Zebulon; and grandchildren, Dylan and Hallie Shirley, Kayla and Carson Hales, A.J. and Amber Roberts, and Alexis, Hailey and Braden Wilson.
