Eldon Stan Standridge

    Eldon “Stan” Standridge , age 85, of Princeton, North Carolina went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 1, 2018. Stan was born on February 20, 1933 in Crowder, OK.

    Stan led a life of service and leadership. His multiple careers included twenty years in the Army retiring as a First Sergeant, several years as a Unit Manager at Lompoc Federal Penitentiary and then as a General Contractor building dozens of homes, once winning the Parade of Homes, in Johnston County North Carolina. Through it all, Stan was a cowboy at heart, wearing his trademark Stetson and boots whenever he could.

    He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he received a Purple Heart medal. He also served as a leader in Viet Nam as an MP in charge of the Long Binh Jail.

    Stan loved the Lord and to study the Word of God. He found a fourth career as a team leader for numerous service and mission projects under the leadership of the Men and Women of Action organization. He also served as an Elder (or Deacon) of Goldsboro Worship Center for many years.

    He was preceded in death by his father Henry, mother Beulah, his brothers McKinley, Bert, Otis, Howard and Earl and his sisters, Leona and Viola.

    Those left behind to cherish his memories are his wife, Elizabeth Beaty Standridge of Princeton; Sister Otha of Canadian, Oklahoma, children,Richard Standridge (Melissa) Kansas City, MO, Leon Standridge (Michelle) of Portland, OR, Gail Deville (Ron) of Lake Charles, LA, and Melodie Maggio (Joe) of Bowling Green, FL; stepchildren, Susan Sheets (Don) of Milwaukie, OR, Tom Wales (Darla) of Soldotna, AK, Tim Wales (Michelle) of Smithfield, NC, Steve Wales (Darlene) of Selma, NC, Lisa Johnson (Brian) of Princeton, NC; 38 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews plus hundreds of friends and fellow church members around the world.

    Funeral services will be held Friday, October 5, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in Goldsboro Worship Center with Rev. Danny Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday just prior to the service. Burial will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in Sunset Memorial Park.
