SELMA – Eleanor Pearce Abbott, age 89, died Wednesday afternoon, February 20, 2019 in the SECU Hospice House. Born September 24, 1929 in Johnston County to the late Etheridge “Bud” and Lillian Lane Pearce, she was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Ray Pearce and sister, Elsie P. Marlow. Eleanor worked with the Jerold Company in Smithfield for 35 years. She was a longtime member of the Selma Tabernacle Church of God in Selma.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Robert Earl “Bob” Abbott; daughters, Carolyn Ann Abbott Stearns and husband Donald Wayne and Dianne Abbott Thorne and husband Jimmy all of Smithfield; brother, Doug Pearce and wife Louise of Morehead City; four grandchildren, Daniel W. (Valerie) Stearns, Laura S. (Colin) Dale, Kelly T. (Michael) Murphy and Jamie T. (Brandon) Johnson and eleven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service.
