SMITHFIELD – Elizabeth Anne Dowd-Edwards, age 72, went home to be with our Lord Jesus on September 23, 2017. She was born October 12, 1944 to the late Irvin and Sue Dowd and was preceded in death by her son, Paul Eugene (Buddy) Miles, II.
Born in Gaston, SC, Anne resided in Smithfield, NC with her loving husband Charles T. Edwards. Anne was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She will be truly missed. She was a dedicated employee of Belk for many years. She shared a beautiful smile along with God’s love with everyone with whom she came in contact with. She loved working outside in her flower garden.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church with the Reverend Lee Colbert officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
Anne was survived by her husband Charles T. Edwards of Smithfield; her daughter & son-in-law, Angela and Allen Brown of Chatsworth, GA; sons & daughters-in-law, Chuck and Vicky Edwards of Chapin, SC and David and Emily Edwards of Charleston, SC; brothers, Donnie Dowd, Henry Dowd and Johnny Dowd; granddaughters, Kayla Miles, Jessica Brown, Brooke Edwards, Fenella Edwards; grandsons, Paul Eugene Miles, III, Beckett Edwards; great grandchildren, Penelope & Leila Hall and Colton Garrett; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth and Mark High and Ann Edwards Langston along with many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 8300 Health Park, Suite 10, Raleigh, NC 27615.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.
