Elmer Lewis, age 96, passed away peacefully on the morning of August 20, 2018 in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born September 19, 1921 in Johnston County to the late Rosco “Rock” and Lanie Edwards Lewis.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Parrish Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are his wife, of 53 years, Peggy Younger Lewis; sons, Mike Lewis and wife Lisa of Rock Ridge and Tim Lewis of Kenly; grandson, Neal Lewis and granddaughter, Georgia Lewis both of Rock Ridge; stepsons, Mike Yelverton and wife Ruby of Four Oaks and Jimmy Yelverton and wife Brenda of Asheboro; step-daughter, Ann Trochum and husband Tom of Raleigh and 8 grandchildren.
