Emaline Creech Phillips Burgess, age 91, of Micro, died Sunday, April 5, 2020 in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born on August 18, 1928 in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Emma Massey Creech. Emaline was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Phillips, sisters Agnes Faucette and Marie Hinson, and brother Thurman Creech. Mrs. Emaline was a member of Micro Original Free Will Baptist Church in Micro.
Emaline was known for her expertise in sewing. She also enjoyed yardwork, flowers and her many cats. In her later years, she took pleasure in reading and her word search puzzles.
Surviving are her children, Rod Phillips and Elaine of Edenton, Pat Kornegay Wilson and Alex of Smithfield, Ken Phillips of Smithfield, Doug Phillips and Sandra of Clayton; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held in Selma Memorial Gardens.
