Ercell grew up in Princeton, NC. She graduated from PHS with honors and was crowned homecoming queen. She really enjoyed her high school years and remembered them fondly her whole life. After high school she graduated from Kings Business College in Raleigh and went on to hold various secretarial and real estate positions. When asked, she would say she was still trying to figure out what she wanted to be when she grew up. Do we ever really grow up?
What she was most proud of was being a wonderful mother and grandmother to her three children and four grandchildren. Ercell loved the beach and made many fond memories with her family there. She was also a very talented writer.
What she ended up being when she grew up was the same thing she had been as a child. A kind, compassionate, smart, curious and beautiful human being. If greatness is measured by how much we are loved by others, then Ercell was a great woman indeed!
She is survived by sons, Merle Peedin, Jr. of Wake Forest, and Micah Peedin of Atlantic Beach; daughter, Misti Peedin of Wake Forest; 4 grandchildren, Mandy Peedin Lannon (Stewart), Ian Peedin, Mallory Peedin Young (Taylor) and Summer Gay.
