Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Fred Allen Smith, age 79, of 8312 Strickland’s Crossroads Road, Four Oaks, NC died Tuesday at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield. Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Saturday at Kennebec Baptist Church in Angier. Officiating will be Revs. Mark Howard and Timmy Blair. Burial will follow in church cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born on October 25, 1937 in Wake County to the late Rufus Mayton and Lena Stephenson Smith. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Rufus Smith, Ray Smith, Dwight Smith and Jerry Smith; sisters, Mozella Adams, Barbara Howard and Magdalene Pleasant. Mr. Smith was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Kennebec Baptist Church in Angier.
Surviving include children and spouses; Freddy and Cindy Smith of Springhill, LA; Lena Ellen and Mark Handy of Elon and Margaret Marie and Don McMullen of Pikeville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph E. Smith of Fuquay and Durwood Smith of Willow Spring: many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 2:00PM – 2:45PM Saturday prior to the funeral service at the church.
