Greenville – Freida Faye Hicks, age 59, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021, in her home of Greenville. She was born on June 5, 1961, a daughter of James E. Hicks and Lillie I. Hicks in Johnston County. She is preceded in death by her father, Mr. James E. Hicks. Freida was an inspiration to everyone she met and she touched many lives. She never met a stranger, she was a very kind and loving lady. Frieda was a very strong and independent person despite her disability. When she was a young lady she enjoyed skating and dancing, and she loved her cats dearly. She was engaged to the love of her life L. “Bear” Marucci for twenty years, and he took great care of her always, as she took equally great care of him. She will be greatly missed by all her loving family and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. in Smithfield Church of God.
She is survived by her fiancé, Laurence “Bear” Marucci, mother, Lillie Ivey Hicks, brother, Randy Hicks (wife Teresa) of Smithfield, sister, Sheila Phillips (husband Barry) of Garner, two nephews, two nieces, two great-nephews, and four great-nieces.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Johnston County Animal Shelter.
