    Furman Chapel Watson Jr., 84, of Selma, N.C., joined our Heavenly Father on April 27, 2018 in Selma.

    Visitation will be 2:00 – 3:00 PM on Sunday May 6, 2018 at Selma Baptist Church.

    Funeral services will be held at 3:00 May 6, 2018 at Selma Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Kirk officiating. A graveside service will follow at Selma Memorial Gardens for the family. Arrangements were made by Parrish Funeral Home. The extended Watson family and hometown friends are gathering in Charlotte on Saturday, May 5 to celebrate his life.

    Furman was born in Charlotte, N.C. to Furman Chapel Watson Sr. and Mattie Pauline Watson on November 25, 1933. He attended North Mecklenburg High School. He worked as a broker and sales rep (food/confectionery) for several companies for over 50 years. Outside of work, he enjoyed listening to gospel music, spending time at the beach, and followed NASCAR racing. He was a member of Selma Baptist Church.

    Furman is preceded in death by: his parents; wife Ann Miller Watson; sisters Clelia, and Edith; brothers James, Herman, Elbert, and Charles.

    Furman is survived by his sisters Sara Watson Cochrane, Ruby Watson Jackson and brother Douglas Watson; children Farley Watson, Teresa Watson Clark, Furman Dale Watson and Michelle Watson Kirby; and grandchildren Tucker Watson, Josh Randolph, Darrell Kirby, Melissa Kirby, and Zachary Kirby.

    Pallbearers will be Dr. Dicky Parrish, Chuck Snipes, Cecil Hinnant, Danny Hinnant, Linwood Stephenson, and Gray Sasser.

    The Watson, Clark, and Kirby families would like to say special thank you to the SECU Hospice House, the Selma Baptist Church, Pastor Steve Kirk, and Mr. Gray Sasser.
