Gary Wayne Grimes, 78, of Princeton, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield surrounded by his family. Gary was born in Tyler County, West Virginia on April 7, 1943 to the late Earl Grimes and Bessie Howard Grimes.
In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his sister, Doris Doughtery.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lorna Griffith Grimes; his children, Michelle Grimes of Wilmington, Michael Grimes and wife Kristie of Tampa Florida, Matthew Grimes of Princeton, Monte Grimes and wife Tina of Princeton; seven grandchildren, Micaela Stanley, Brett Grimes, Chase Chabanik, Jake Grimes, Stormy Grimes, Mia Nichols, Mataya Grimes; two great grandchildren, Lillian Stanley, Grayson Nichols; brother, Donald Grimes; sisters, Carolyn Clark, Joyce Kaprich, and several other family and friends.
Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and golfing, but most importantly spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM, Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations in Princeton.
