Glenn Richards Strickland, age 78, of Clayton, passed away on June 18, 2018 at his home. Born in Wayne County on May 7, 1940, he was one of nine children born to the late David Wright and Canary Langston Strickland. Mr. Strickland was retired from the Security Department at Dorthea Dix Hospital. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Clayton. Glenn loved his children and they loved him as well. His grandchildren and his great grandkids kept a smile on his face. He loved sitting on his back deck and watching the birds eat and the squirrels chase each other.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton. The family will receive friends at 205 Moore Street in Clayton following the graveside service.
Surviving are two children, Jammie Strickland (Arne Hauger) of Clayton and Bennett Truett Strickland (Gloria Thornton) of Clayton; two grandchildren, Glenn Strickland (Nicole) of Clayton and Karey Price (Jeremy) of Grantham; six great grandchildren, Hunter Moore, Hannah Smith, Haiden Smith, Peyton Price, Tyler and Riley Strickland and Blake Price.
The family would like to send a very big Thank You to Arne Hauger (Glenn called him his Hero) for taking such great care of Daddy. Also a big Thank You to Heartland Hospice and Health Care of Raleigh.
