Benson: Mrs. Helen “Korney” Kornegay Waller Adams, age 78, of 1807 NC Hwy 50 North died Tuesday at Rex Healthcare in Raleigh. A graveside service was held at Pineview Cemetery in Seven Springs. Rev. Paul Burgess officiated.
Mrs. Adams was born March 4, 1939 in Lenoir County to the late Sam Jones and Helen Kornegay Waller. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Katherine W. Carr. Mrs. Adams was the bookkeeper for Drs. Adams, Johnson and Johnson, Optometrists and was a member of Benson Baptist Church where she served in many capacities.
Surviving include her husband of 60 years, Dr. W. C. Adams; children & spouses, William Carl Adams, Jr. of Wilmington, Dr. Millie A. Johnson and husband, Dr. Richard Johnson, of Benson, and Katherine A. Bumgarner and husband, Dr. Kenny Bumgarner, of Pinehurst; sister, Estelle Summerlin of Dublin; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
