Princeton – Henry Berket Butts, age 72, died Saturday afternoon in the UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. He was born March 29, 1948 in Johnston County to the late Elton Berket and Ethel Irene Crocker Butts.
Henry was a US Army veteran and was retired from the US Army Reserves in January 1998, having served in Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm. He was a member of the Pine Level American Legion Post 405. He was also a retired EMT with the Princeton Rescue Squad after more than 20 years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Bizzell Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he was a long-time member, with the Rev. Phillip Bland officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Bizzell Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Parrish Funeral Home.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Braswell Butts; son, Kevin Dewayne Butts and his wife Angie of Princeton; daughter, Kerry Butts Proctor and her husband Mike of Clayton; brother, Dale Butts of Brattleboro, VT; sisters, Brenda Butts Creech and husband Stacy of Selma and Gail Butts Creech of Smithfield and three grandchildren, Samantha Irene Proctor, Sadey Lynn Butts and Jonah Michael Proctor.
