    Clayton – Hubert Thomas DeHaven, age 72, died peacefully Tuesday, May 14, 2019 with family by his side. Born January 12, 1947 in Waverly, VA he was a son of the late William Martin and Lillian Council DeHaven. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Ann DeHaven; and sister, Lillian Janice Watkins. Hubert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 24 years. He later earned an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science: Information Systems and served as a Business and Technology Data Analyst for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. Hubert was a dedicated member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Smithfield.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Centenary UMC with Rev. William Holliday. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Wesley Hall at the church prior to the service.

    Surviving are his daughters, Stephanie Hudson and husband Eddie of Mt. Olive, and Tracy Curtis and husband Lucas of Smithfield; brother, William (Marty) DeHaven of Monroe; sister, Ginny Nates Shull and husband Dalton; grandchildren, Joel Parham, Hunter Hudson, Zachary Parham, Aubrey Parham, and Heather Hudson; beloved mother-in-law, Patricia Boone; sister-in-law, Charlene Howard; and nieces and nephews, Randy, Todd, Terry, and Janice.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Centenary United Methodist Church, 140 E Market Street, Smithfield, NC 27577.
