Micro – Irene Creech age 94, passed away Friday March 13, 2020 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. She was born to the late Ruffin and Carolina Batten Whitley. In addition to her parents Mrs. Creech is also preceded in death by husband of 62 years, John (Ted) Creech; Brothers, Earl and Luther Whitley; Sister Zilphia Batten; A graveside service will be conducted in Yelverton Grove FWB Church cemetery in Smithfield on Monday March 16, 2020 at 12 PM. She is survived by sons, Fred Creech and wife Donna of Trenton, John Creech and wife Shirley of Smithfield; Daughter, Barbra Clayhorne of Deep Gap; Seven grandsons; Two granddaughters; Seven great grandsons; Six great granddaughters; Mrs. Creech worked in Micro School for thirty one years. She worked with her husband at the school for several years and then was a teacher’s aid until she retired in 1982. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Hinnant Outreach Center, Micro NC 28366 or to Johnston Health Foundation, PO Box 1376 Smithfield, NC 27577 Attn: Hospice Fund.
