James Douglas Atwood, 89, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018 surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 2:00pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with the entombment following at Pinecrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.
He is survived by his children, Brenda Hill and husband Charles, Judy Pounds and husband Ronald, Steve Atwood and wife Debbie, Sheila Elliott and husband Steve, Toni Shaw and husband Tony; grandchildren, Craig Pounds (Jennifer), Eric Pounds (Cynthia), Stephen Jernigan (Paige), Andrew Shaw (Ashley), Mitchell Shaw, Patrick Shaw, Kent Elliott (Shilo), Stephanie Gilchrist (Darrell), Taylor Elliott (Brittany), Brinkley Elliott and Amanda Banks (Jason); 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife,Virginia Jones Atwood; brothers, George, Thomas, Allen, Bobby and Harold; sisters, Doris Strickland and Eunice Barbour.
