Selma – James “Jamie” Eugene Coats, age 53, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, in UNC Chapel Hill Hospital.
He was born November 16, 1967, a son of Eugene and Judy Coats in Smithfield. He is preceded in death by his father Eugene Coats. Jamie was the pastor of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church in Selma. He was a loving Dad and “Pa Pa” to his family and he loved serving the Lord.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 23, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, with the burial to follow in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, November 22, 2020, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Everett Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Clayton, and other times at the home.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years Mrs. Lisa Coats, mother, Judy Coats, son, Dalton J. Coats and wife Michelle of Clayton, daughter, Katie Davis and husband David of Clayton, sister, Joy C. Pittman and husband Paul of Wilmington, grandchildren, Trey Davis, David Davis Jr., Damian Davis, Dawson Davis and Payton Davis, nephew Robbie Pittman, nieces, Kayla Pittman and Carli Byrd.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation or to his spouse Lisa Coats.
The family ask that all attendees wear a mask and practice social distancing.
