    James Gerald Honeycutt, 76, passed away at the UNC Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill on Sunday, May 31, 2020. He was born in Johnston County on May 9, 1944 to the late James Howard Honeycutt and Vernie Merle Stanley Honeycutt. He was also preceded in death by daughter, Janet Hendrickson; sisters, Elgie Blalock and Brenda Workman. There will be a private funeral held on Friday, June 5, 2020 and it will be by invitation only. A public graveside will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020 at Tee’s Chapel Church cemetery, 6439 Brogden Road, Smithfield, NC 27577 at 3:00 pm. Reverend Dennis Pollock and Reverend Jack Booth will officiate the funeral. Reverend Pollock will officiate the graveside.

    The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on Friday, June 5, 2020 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel.

    Mr. Honeycutt loved classic cars and being in his workshop at his home. He loved his family very much, especially his wife of 48 years, Carolyn and his children. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were very precious to him.

    He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Worley Honeycutt; sons, Dana Erickson and wife, Sandra of Smithfield, David Erickson and wife, Cindy of Spring Hope, and Wayne Honeycutt of Smithfield; son-in-law, Steve Hendrickson of Watkins, Minnesota; daughters, Karen Webster and husband, Troy of Smithfield, Gloria Rook of Selma, Marie Honeycutt of Angier, and Missy Erickson of Smithfield; brother, Bennie Honeycutt and wife, Gail of Raleigh; sisters, Glenda Smith and husband, L. R. of Angier and Linda Byrd of Angier; 12 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren.
