James Lee “Jim” Edwards

    SELMA – James Lee “Jim” Edwards, age 78, died Thursday morning, May 4, 2017 at his home. Born February 28, 1939 in Johnston County to the late James Haywood and Clyde Taylor Edwards, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Lynn Edwards. Jim was retired from Burlington Industries after 33 years as an analyst. He was a member of Selma Tabernacle Church of God, a charter member of the Selma Rescue Squad and a member of the Selma American Legion Post 141.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Sammy Evans and Mr. Joey Hatcher officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. just prior to the service.
    Surviving are his wife, of 57 years, Gladys Wilson Edwards; daughter, Debbie Edwards Howard and husband Sonny of Smithfield; brother, Earl Thomas Edwards and wife Betsy of Butner; two grandsons, David R. Johnson, Jr. and wife Christy and James Lee Johnson and wife Amanda all of Selma and three great grandchildren, Carlee Johnson, Mason Johnson and Cambree Johnson.
    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Selma Tabernacle Church of God, 206 E. Anderson Street, Selma, NC 27576.
