James Leon “Jimmy” Earp

    Selma – James Leon “Jimmy” Earp, age 82, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 7, 2021 in UNC Johnston Health. Born January 13, 1939 in Johnston County to the late Joseph Earl and Bessie Lee Jones Earp, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Earl “Joe” Earp and a sister, Ernestine Earp Grice. Jimmy was a graduate of Selma High School and Atlantic Christian College in Wilson. Jimmy was retired from the US Postal Service in Selma where he was a rural letter carrier for over 35 years. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and son, along with watching, teaching, and playing Golf. He was a Member of the Selma Presbyterian Church, and a Life Member of the Cardinal Country Club, the Selma Moose Lodge, and the Republican National Committee.

    Funeral services will be conducted at Parrish Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 13th, 2021 at 11am with Mr. Luby C. Tyner officiating. A private burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.

    Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Peggy Wall Earp; son, James Leon “Jim” Earp, Jr. of Smithfield and daughter-in-law, Donna Earp of Selma.
