    Mr. James W. “Jim” Perkins 83, of Leland, formerly of Lake Waccamaw died Saturday, July 29, 2017 in Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Lifecare Center, Wilmington. He was born March 8, 1934 in Martin County, NC the son of the late Raymond “Jack” Jasper Perkins and Minnie B. Britt Perkins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Ruth Perkins and a sister, Betty Perkins Howard.

    Mr. Perkins was a veteran of the US Army and US Army Reserve, retiring after 41 years of service. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Ayden Lodge 498. He was formerly employed with Brown-Rogers-Dixon Co. in Winston Salem.

    He is survived by a daughter, Billie Perkins Bryant and husband, J.D. of Clayton; two grandsons, Spencer Worrells of Clayton and Jackson Worrells of the US Army, Fort Jackson; step daughter, Johnnie Lou Butler of Bladenboro; step grandchildren, Rebecca and Brent Sibbett of Whiteville, Regina and Jamie Wilson of Cerro Gordo, Austin Butler of Bladenboro; a brother, Raymond “Jack” Perkins, Jr. of Winston Salem.

    His funeral service will be a 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Gary Ledbetter. Burial will be in Peacock’s Columbus Memorial Park.

    His family will receive friends 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Peacock Funeral Home.
