Janet P. Langston aka Granga, age 82, died Sunday, April 21, 2019. Born October 21, 1936 in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Harvies and Grace Parnell. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward “Jim” Langston; her sisters, Eloise Anderson, Evelyn Anderson, Virginia Evans, Novenne Hoell, Claire Boykin; brother, Bill Parnell; and beloved pet, Daisy. Janet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an educator for many years and loved her students. She loved to ride her bicycle with her faithful companion, Daisy, in the basket. After the death of her husband, she spent countless hours with her best friend, Ruth, trying out all the good places to eat. She was loved and she will be missed.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2019 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Casey and Rev. Al Warrick officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday just prior to the service.
Surviving are her son, James E. “Jay” Langston and wife Faye of Micro; daughter, Jamie L. Batts and husband Mike of Elm City; grandchildren, Paige L. Tedder and husband David of Micro, Holly L. Matthews and husband Brandon of Micro, and Justin T. Batts and wife Vanessa of Selma; two great grandchildren, Maci and Dalayna Tedder. Also surviving is her sister, Judy P. Worley and husband Danny of Pine Level; and brother, Jerry Parnell of Panama City, FL. She leaves behind her best friend, Ruth Howell of Goldsboro.
