Janice Barbour Poole

    Janice Barbour Poole, 74, of Micro, stepped out of this world into her heavenly home on Saturday, March 30, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at the SECU Hospice House. Born in Johnston County on February 8, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Rayvond and Rena Barbour. She was the oldest of four children and always looked out for the best interest of her siblings. She graduated at Cleveland High School and began her working career at Rose’s Department Stores for 15 years in Smithfield and Wilson. She later joined her husband as office manager of the family business in Micro where they made their home. She was a great admirer of Elvis Presley, spending time collecting Elvis memorabilia and visiting Graceland twice. Janice was a member of Micro First Baptist Church.
    Janice married Ivey Yates Poole on July 9, 1965 and on June 30, 1970 they welcomed their son Mark Poole. He was the apple of her eye and the light of her life. Mark married Amy Barbour Poole in August of 2017 and that blessed Janice with a wonderful daughter-in-law and two grandchildren, Bryson and Lellon. She is also survived by her siblings Diane Page and husband Jerry of Angier and their children Brandon and Kelly, Ricky Barbour and wife Sandra of Goldsboro and their daughters Lori and Anna, Larry Barbour and wife Barbara of Wilmington and their children Taylor, Ryan and Eric, and her fur baby Rocky.
    The family will receive friends at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma on Monday from 2-3 PM followed by funeral services at 3 PM with Rev. Tim Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.
