Durham: Janie Bell Register Reaves, 87, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Hock Family Pavilion with her daughters by her side. Mrs. Reaves was born in Johnston County, the daughter of the late John Daniel Register and Eula Davis Register. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Otis Leon Reaves; brother, Melvin Register; and sister, Catherine Register. She was a member of Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Reaves retired from Bristol Myers and Duke University. Mrs. Reaves was loved by everyone who knew her.
Mrs. Reaves is survived by her children, Brenda Reaves (Doug) Oglesby, Ronald Reaves, Carol A. Reaves; nephew, David (Cindy) Register; special friend, Pam (Marc) Browne; sisters, Mavecine Tanner, Ann Allen, Linda Jernigan; brothers, J. E. (Linda) Register, J.D. (Judy) Register, Jerry (Louise) Register; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 13 at Clements Funeral Home in Durham. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 14 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Bethsaida Cemetery in Benson.
