Jerry Lincoln Thornton, 80 of Newton Grove passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019 surrounded by his family. Mr. Thornton’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 2:00 pm. The service will be held at the West & Dunn Funeral Home Chapel in Newton Grove. The Rev. Walter Gaskins will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 6 from 1 to 2 pm. Mr. Thornton will be laid to rest in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Cemetery in Newton Grove.
Mr. Thornton survivors include his wife, Joan G. Thornton; his son, Jerry Wayne Thornton and wife Sandra of Garner; grandchildren, Barrett and Skylar Thornton; sisters, Arlene Strickland of Dunn, Nellie Westbrook of Four Oaks, Cathy Lee of Salsburg, Barbara Jones of Newton Grove and Linda Sessoms of Salsburg; brothers, Dennis Thornton of Four Oaks and Everette Thornton of Four Oaks.
Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by his parents, Facie and Blanche Thornton; his son, Michael Todd Thornton; and his brothers, Dale, Blake and Tom Thornton; and his sister, Bonnie Thornton.
