Coats, NC: Mr. Jessie B. West, Jr, age 88, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM-Friday, September 3, 2021 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC. Rev. Wesley Hamilton will officiate. Burial will follow in Harnett Devotional Gardens, Dunn, NC.
Mr. West was born on March 2, 1933, in Harnett County, NC to the late Jessie B. West, Sr., and Mildred Holmes West Norris. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Janis “Lady Bug” McLamb West, son, Jesse Lynn West, step-father, Edgar Norris, sister, Katherine Melvin and a brother, Charles West. Mr. West retired from Dunbar Foods in Dunn, NC. He was a jack of all trades, loved hunting, gardening, and was loved by his family.
Surviving include his children, Donna West, Kathy Young and husband, Donald, Darlene Parker and husband, Keith, and Jimmy West and wife, Lisa, daughter-in-law, Barbara West-Lee; fourteen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren; sister, Mary “Molly” McLamb; brothers, Fulton “Bob” West, John West and Wiley “Buddy” West; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6:00PM-8:00PM-Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC and other times at the home.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to the SECU Hospice House, PO Box 1376, Smithfield, NC 27577.
