Zebulon – Jessie Lee Batten Atkinson, age 89, died Sunday, October 17, 2021 at her home. Born June 7, 1932 in Johnston County she was a daughter of the late Jesse Pharrow and Nedies Boykin Batten. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Atkinson; brothers, Ralph Batten and AB Batten; and sister, Doris Horne. Jessie was a member of Calvary FWB Church in Kenly. She worked many years for J & J Apparel in Kenly for many years.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in the Atkinson Family Cemetery, 10399 NC 96 N, Zebulon, NC 27597. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Surviving are her son, Ray Atkinson and wife Donna of Smithfield; daughter, Connie Nelson and husband Wayne of Zebulon; brothers, JP Batten of Wilson and CD Batten of Sims; sisters, Martha Pittman of Kenly, Judy Raper and Jean Narron, both of Middlesex; grandchildren, Ricky Sanders and wife Genelle of Texas and Waylon Lamm and wife Brittney of Smithfield; and great grandchildren, Tim and Rhys of Texas and Emalyn and Hazel of Smithfield.
