Jewel Price Brown, age 84, died Sunday, July 21, 2019 in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born February 8, 1935 in Johnston County she was a daughter of the late Carl and Lina Pittman Price. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Cecil Brown; son, Jerry Brown; and brothers, Carl Price, Jr. and John Elderidge Price. Jewel was a faithful member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Children’s Sunday School teacher for over 30 years.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2019 in Bethany Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Arant officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Family Life Center just prior to the service, or, at other times at the home of her granddaughter, Renee Jenkins, 101 Bale Drive, Kenly, NC 27542 (Cottonfield Subdivision).
Surviving are her daughters, Wanda Hodges and husband Pete of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and Susan Kimbrough and husband Jim of Clayton; brother, George Glen Price of Kenly; eight grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
