    BENSON – Jimmie Kirkland Griffin, age 75, died Thursday evening in the Durham VA Hospital. Born September 8, 1945 in Johnston County to the late Kiler Kirkland and Martha Lillian Sanders Griffin, he was preceded in death by his brother, James R. Griffin and a sister, Minnie Carol Smith.

    The family will receive friends Sunday, March 21, 2021 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. in the Parrish Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Kristina Yeats officiating.

    Surviving are his soul mate and the love of his life, Adalia Langdon; daughters, Misty Marie Matheny and husband Ricky of Smithfield and Melanie Langdon of Benson; son, John-Paul Kirkland Griffin and partner Parker of Seattle, WA; sisters, Myrtle Gray Toole and husband Tom and Martha Corina Pelletier all of Smithfield and Lillian Avenell Varn and husband Johnny of Crescent City, FL; grandchildren, Kayla Lane, Kyle Lane and Braxton Nicholson and great grandchildren, Mason Dixon, William Dixon and Piper Lane.

    In addition to loving his family, he enjoyed camping, traveling, and tinkering in his workshop. He was a professional welder and traveled the world for work as a boilermaker. His faith in God remained strong and guided his life to love his family and friends unconditionally.

    In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Elizabeth United Methodist Church, 4269 Cleveland Road, Smithfield, NC 27577.
