Wake Forest- Johnathan (Johnny) Henry Newsome went to meet the Lord on his 82nd birthday, September 26, 2021. John was born to the late James Henry and Ithaca Bass Newsome in Kenly, NC. John’s favorite time was spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to attend Davis’ basketball games and Dawson’s soccer games and track meets. He enjoyed playing his instruments- the guitar and the Indian flute. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. John served proudly in the Marine Corps and worked in the mortgage banking business for 34 years.
A grave side service will be held at Selma Memorial Gardens at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021.
The family asks that Covid guidelines such as social distancing and masks be followed for the service.
The family plans to have a celebration of life memorial service at a later date. Date and time to be announced.
John is survived by his wife, Peggy Davis Newsome of Wake Forest; son, Johnathan Jeffrey Newsome, daughter, Joy N. Oliver, brother, William (Billy) and wife Ava Newsome, sister, Linda N. Rose and husband Kent, grandchildren, Davis and Dawson Oliver, nieces, Stephani Rose and Niki R. Evans.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Wake Forest Presbyterian Church at 12605 Capital Blvd., Wake Forest 27587
