Johnnie Iredell Brown, age 88, of Selma passed away on April 25, 2018. Born in Johnston County on September 26, 1929, he was the son of the late Vester and Lula Pittman Brown. He was also preceded in death by siblings Arlen Brown, Shorty Brown, Vella Parrish and Eloise Stuckey. Mr. Brown was a Korean War veteran and was a retired farmer and Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2:30 PM in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. Burial with military honors will be in the cemetery at Creech’s Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 PM.
Surviving are his wife, Alease B. Brown; sons, Stewart Brown and wife Linda, Danny Brown and wife Martha, all of Selma; daughter Ellen “Candace” Tyndall and husband Clint of Selma; sister Mary Louise Creech of Selma; grandchildren Heather and Nicole Brown, Shelby and Skyler Tyndall, Aislinn-Anne and Cullen Vester Brown.
