Kenly – Johnny Richard “Rick” West, age 60, died Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at his home. Born May 25, 1961 in Smithfield, NC to the late James Horace and Lillie Mae Lee Hansley he was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Rudolph Lee West and Shelvy Jean Hansley West.
Rick was a graduate of Johnston Community College and spent most of his career in the retail industry. He was a antique and history enthusiast and enjoyed collecting books, reading, watching football and trips to Myrtle Beach with family and friends. Rick will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and love for animals, especially his cockatiel “Joey”. He was a proud NRA member and believed everyone should vote.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home.
Surviving are his daughters, Morgan Grem and husband Tyler and Kassidy West all of Garner and their mother, Kathy West of Clayton; brother, Barney Weaver of Cary and granddaughters, Macie Grem and his 2nd one due in May of 2022.
