Smithfield- Joseph Edward Thorne, age 89 passed away on Saturday, January 11,2020. He was born in Edgecome County on June the 26th 1930 to the late Jessie Thorne and Winnie Thorne. He is preceded in death by his wife Rosa Taylor Thorne, daughter Vicky Bagley, and brothers J.D Thorne and Melvin Thorne. Mr. Joseph loved the Lord and he loved all his family. He enjoyed working in his yard, dancing, music and going to the beach at Emerald Isle.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma at 11:00 am with the burial to follow at Crocker Cemetry. The family will receive visitors prior to the service starting at 10:00am.
He is survived by his sons, Jimmy Thorne and wife Dianne of Smithfield, Michael and wife Sharon of Apex, daughter Cathy Lee and husband Chuck Lee of Smithfield, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
