Kenly-Joseph Jay “Joe” Martin, 19, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019. Born in Wake County on May 19, 2000, he was the son of Greg and Hope Martin.
Joseph Martin, a friend, a brother, a warrior, and a loving son. Life was never easy, growing up with little to nothing. He went through many difficult times, both mentally and physically, but through it all he never forgot who he was in Christ. Although he took some detours trying to cover up the pain with other things, the last few months he was alive were truly amazing. The change he went through, the Lord knew what was going to happen and he prepared Joseph, so that he would be ready to pass on to eternal life with Jesus Christ in heaven. But through the struggles and successes, he would be willing to lay his life down in a heartbeat for his family, friends, and even people he knew for a short time. His beautiful smile and ability to make others laugh, and cry sometimes, will be severely missed. Joseph, we know you live on, but just not here, but you will always be with us. To God be the Glory!
A time of visitation with the family will be Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Kenly Missionary Baptist Church followed by a service to celebrate his life in the sanctuary at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Devon Varnam officiating. Burial will follow in the Kenly Cemetery.
Joseph is survived by his parents, Greg and Hope Martin; siblings, Rebekah, Isaiah, Daniel, and Rachel Martin; maternal grandmother, Elaine Taylor; aunts, Lisa, Dawn, and Robin Taylor, and Debbie Pierce; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Lewis Taylor; and paternal grandparents, William S. and Joann Martin.
