Joyce Best Smith, 86, of Princeton passed away early Wednesday morning, February 15, 2017 at the Helping Hands Facility in Goldsboro. She was born June 22, 1930 to the late Corbett Leonard Best and Mildred Dunbar Best Cox. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 6:00 pm in the Casey Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Phil Bowden officiating. The burial will take place at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery on Saturday February 18, 2017 at 10:00 AM.
Mrs. Smith served as President of the NC Extension of Homemakers, served on the board of the Wayne County Livestock Development Association in Wayne County, and was a member of Oakland Friends Church.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda Smith Frazier of Princeton, Deborah Smith Worley and husband, Charles of Princeton, and Lisa Smith Matthews and husband, Paul of Murrell’s Inlet, SC; a sister, Julie Heydon of Pensacola, FL; 7 Grandchildren, Jason and Christy Frazier, Jarrett and Apryl Frazier, Angela and Ashley Rains, Amber Russell, Charley and Taylor Lane, Taylor Matthews and Justin Matthews; 7 Great Grandchildren, Brayden Rains, Braxton Rains and Davis Frazier, Reagan Frazier, Marigail Frazier, Sidney Frazier and Carly Russell.
Flowers are welcome but the family suggest that memorial contributions be made to Community Home Care and Hospice or Oakland Community Church.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 4:30 PM until 6:00 PM at Casey Funeral Home Chapel.
