Clayton, NC: Mrs. Joyce Wood Clifton, age 90, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021 at UNC Johnston Health in Clayton, NC. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM-Thursday, April 1, 2021 at St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, Benson, NC. Revs. Wesley Taylor and Joe Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson, NC.
Mrs. Clifton was born on September 16, 1930 in Johnston County to the late Harvey and Viola Johnson Wood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Edward Clifton, brothers, Delma Wood and Bobby Wood and a sister, Lois Dorman. Mrs. Clifton retired from Sylvania, was a farmer and also a homemaker. She attended St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, Benson, NC.
Surviving include her children, Lanny Clifton and wife, Diane; Timmy Clifton and wife, Leann; and Tammie Medlin and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Keri Strickland, and husband, Sean; Brian Clifton and wife, Brooke; Kristi Stancil and husband, Bradley; Jason Clifton and wife, Leslie; Kasey Shipwash and husband, Brandon; Chase Langdon and Amber Anderson; Justin Clifton and wife, Lindsey; and Katie Biggers and husband, Robert; great-grandchildren, Kyli, Kolt, Kyndal, Colson, Krosley, Fisher, Saylor, River, Tyde, Blaine, Bree, Chance, Kloey, Aiden, Riley and Larkin; brother, Sam Wood, sisters-in-law, Eloise Lee, and Ann Clifton; many nieces and nephews; step -grandchildren, Misty Williams, Holly Mitchell and husband, Brandon; Bert Medlin and wife, Ashley; and Scott Medlin and wife, Tiffany; step-great-grandchildren, Beau, Henley, Price and Kayla.
Mrs. Clifton will be available for viewing from 12:00PM-5:00PM on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC. The family will not be present during this time.
The family will receive friends 1:45PM-2:45PM on Thursday, April 1, 2021in the fellowship hall of St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, Benson, NC and other times at the homes of the children.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be sent to St. Mary’s Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, C/O Dianne Johnson, 3053 Federal Road, Benson, NC 27504.
