Katherine Tucker Thompson, age 70, of Smithfield passed away on December 20, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Wake County on March 27, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Helen Sparrow Tucker. Mrs. Thompson taught in the Johnston County School System at Smithfield Middle and Cleveland High Schools. She was a member of the Cardinal Country Club. She loved sports, traveling and spending time at her beach house.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 23 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. Daniel Evans will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1-2 PM.
Surviving are her husband, David Fitzhugh Thompson; son Ryan Hardy of Sterling, Colorado; daughters Lezlie Matthews and husband John of Topsail Beach, Carol Boyette and husband Clyde of Raleigh; step-father Tom Chapin of Fuquay-Varina; brother John Tucker and wife Catherine of Fuquay-Varina; and grandchildren George Matthews, Kaden Hardy, Hunter Hardy, Brendan Diaz, Kyle Boyette and wife Suzanne and Kevin Boyette.
