Smithfield – Kenneth Gilbert “Ken” Radford, age 70 died Sunday afternoon in WakeMed of Raleigh. Born April 15, 1948 in Johnston County to the late Tilboa and Lillian Hazel Gilmore Radford, he was preceded in death by a son, Joey Lee Johnson. Ken was a US army veteran during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018, in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. A private service, with military honors, will be held in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro.
Surviving are his wife Scarlet Radford, daughter, Susan Price Radford Fader and husband Alan of Smithfield; son, Kevin Radford and wife Amanda of Smithfield; brothers, Albert Radford, Tilboa “Duke” Radford, Jr. and significant other Dorothy Allen and Phil Radford and wife Laura all of Smithfield and Joe Radford and wife Linda of Clayton; sisters, Rachel Talton and husband Billy and Becky Young all of Smithfield and Susie Allen and husband Dennis of Pine Level; 9 grandchildren, Alan Fader, Dawn Fader, Mackenzie Radford, Joey Lee Johnson, II, Joseph Johnson, Jody Maynard, Crystal Jones, Brooke Jones and Melissa Jones and 12 great grandchildren.
