    Benson, NC: Mr. Larry Wayne Massengill, age 71, of Park Place passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM, Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Benson. Rev. Rodney Wilson will officiate.

    Mr. Massengill was born February 7, 1949 in Johnston County to the late Lawrence and Pennie Parrish Massengill. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Stanton Massengill. Mr. Massengill owned and operated Massengill Associates, P.A. in Benson from 1978. He was Citizen of the Year in 1992 and was past President of the Benson Kiwanis Club. Mr. Massengill was a member of Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and trustee. He was also a member of the American Legion Banner Post 109 in Benson. Mr. Massengill served on the Johnston County Planning Board and the Johnston County EMS Advisory Board. He will be remembered for his willingness to help anyone in need and his service to his community in many ways.

    Surviving include his wife of 49 years, Lena J. Massengill; his children, Heather M. Clifton and husband, Jimmy of Benson, Andrew Ryan Massengill and fiancé, Angel Zier of Four Oaks, Thomas Lawrence Massengill of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Hannah Massengill, Savanah Clifton, Ashlynn Massengill, Crystal Warren and husband, John; great-grandchildren, Emma, Christian, and Cohen Warren; sister-in-law, Pamela G. Massengill of Four Oaks; nephew, Greg Massengill and wife, Jessica of Four Oaks; niece, Sarah Massengill Adams and husband, Tyler of Four Oaks.

    Mr. Massengill’s register book will be available for you to sign on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 12:00PM-7:00PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC. The family will not be present during this time.

    In accordance with NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing and the three W’s: wait, wash, and wear a face covering. Masks are required for all services.
