Benson, NC: Mr. Leamon Alfred Gilbert, age 91, died Thursday at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be 3PM Sunday at Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Glenn McCullen, Rev. Dr. Don Sauls and Rev. Robbie Gilbert. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Benson.
Mr. Gilbert was born December 6, 1925 in Johnston County to the late Jerry Cornelius and Nettie Lee Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Lou Gilbert and brothers, Elmon, Roy and Talmadge. Mr. Gilbert was a farmer and later in life a federal crop insurance adjuster. He was also a US Army Veteran and life long member of Benson PFWB Church.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Donna G. and Johnny Smith of Four Oaks; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Faye Gilbert of Benson; Robbie and Dorenda Gilbert of Timothy, NC; grandchildren and spouses, Brent and Michelle Smith, Leah S. and Jamie Knight, Cory and Meg Gilbert, Melissa and Phillip Edwards, Justin and Jennifer Gilbert, Jason and Jennifer Gilbert, Aaron and Deena Gilbert, and Anthony and Erin Cain; nine great-grandchildren, sister, Rosalie West of Benson; and many nieces & nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Saturday and other times at the The Gilbert Home.
