Princeton – Lela Norris Woodard, 86, of Princeton, NC passed away peacefully, January 18, 2018, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC. Born May 5, 1931, she is the daughter of the late Calvin and Maggie Gregory Norris. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband and father of her children, James Rudolph Woodard, an infant daughter, sons James E. Woodard and Jerry Thomas Woodard, five sisters: Annie, Lilly, Ruby, Eula, Mildred, five brothers: Willie (Bill), Preston (Pres), Wallace (Doc), Joel Edmond (Ed), Fred, a nephew, Steve Booker (whom she raised), as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 21 at 5:00 pm in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, with Pastor Dennis Pollock officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 5:00 pm just prior to the service. There will be no graveside service.
She is survived by a son Kenny Woodard and wife, Nancy of Pine Level; a daughter, Kathy Worley and husband, Jeff of Smithfield; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great- great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
