    Zebulon – Leland Vane Boyette, age 79, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021, in UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh. He was born on May 28, 1941, a son of the late Cary and Thelma Boyette in Johnston County. He is preceded in death by brothers, George Boyette, Donald Boyette, Thomas Boyette, Charles Boyette, brother-in-law, Ray Hinnant, sisters-in-law, Macy Boyette, and Mildred Boyette. Leland was a member of Creech’s Primitive Baptist Church, and also attended Branch Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Selma. He was a godly man, a good neighbor and a kind person. He loved his family, friends and anyone he knew. He was known for his cooking skills and his love of hosting meals with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, raising gourds, snow skiing, dancing, and being with his family. He was also known for his love of his wife Elaine, who was “the best thing that ever happened to him”.
    Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 8, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Branch Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Selma with the burial to follow in Corinth Church Cemetery in Zebulon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m.
    He is survived by his beloved wife Mrs. Elaine Howard Boyette, step children, Curt Jernigan (wife Sissy) of Sneads Ferry, Brad Jernigan (wife Sherri) of Wilson, Angela Pittman (husband Walt) of Lucama, Dolly Gardner (husband Steven) of Kenly, nine step- grandchildren, three step- great- grandchildren, brothers, Glenn Boyette, (wife Joyce) of Wilmington, Billy Boyette (wife Cheryl) of Clayton, Reuben Boyette (wife Ann) of Garner, Connie Boyette (wife Shelia) of Garner, sisters, Lillie Hinnant of Knightdale, Janet Lewis (husband Larry) of Richmond, VA, Yvonne Lassiter (husband Al) of Virginia Beach, VA, sisters-in-law, Judy and Lynn Boyette, twenty two nieces and nephews, and thirty five great nieces and nephews.
