Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Leta Gray Barbour Stephenson, age 85, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehab in Dunn. A Memorial Service will be held 6:00PM-Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Four Oaks, NC. Rev. Jerrie Smith will officiate.
Mrs. Stephenson was born on October 8, 1934 in Johnston County to the late Seth and Stella Roberts Barbour. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Stephenson, son-in-law, Mark Surles and her brother, Billy Barbour. Mrs. Stephenson was a retired cafeteria worker with Johnston County Schools and was a member of Barbourtown Church of God.
Surviving include her children, Yvonne Surles of Dunn and Dwain Stephenson of Four Oaks; one grandson, Sean Stephenson; sister, Trudy Benson of Four Oaks and a sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Barbour of Four Oaks; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service on Thursday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks.
In accordance with NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W’s: wait, wash, and wear a face covering.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, www.jdfr.org, or to St. Judes Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
