Pine Level – Lillie Mae Crocker Brown, age 90 of Pine Level, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning at Johnston UNCH Health Care while surrounded by her family. Lillie Mae was born in Johnston County on November 26, 1926 as the youngest child to the late Clarence E. and Lillie Crumpler Crocker.
On August 3, 1947, she married the love of her life, Floyd L. Brown and they were blessed with over 60 years of marriage until he passed away in May 2008. She retired from Fieldcrest-Cannon with over 30 years of service in the mid 1990’s.
She was an over 50 year member of Crumpler’s Crossroads Church of God of Prophecy on Lizzie Mill Road near Selma. She was a devoted church worker and always participated in as many church activities as possible. “Miss. Lillie” was blessed with the gift of song and always delighted in singing solos when called upon. She enjoyed singing “old gospel” and some contemporary songs. She was also a much loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother called “Granny B”.
Her life will be celebrated Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. Interment will follow at the Crocker Cemetery near Pine Level. The Rev. Craig Langdon will be officiating. The family will be at “Miss. Lillie’s” home at other times to receive friends.
Lillie Mae is survived by her children, Phyllis Morrison (Ricky) of Goldsboro and Rose Morgan (Charles) of Pine Level. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Pam Weeks, Chris Morgan (Elizabeth) and Jason Morgan (friend Jill); and six great grandchildren, Elizabethe Weeks, Will Weeks, Grayson Morgan, Evey Morgan, Elisha Morgan, and Lillie Morgan; niece, Gail Riddle; nephews, Doug Crocker and Jeff Crocker; and many special family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Crocker; and a sister, Pauline Cole.
We would like to give special thanks to the devoted staff at Smithfield Manor Rehab and especially to the wonderful and compassionate staff at Johnston UNC Health Care for taking care of “Miss. Lillie”. It was very much appreciated by her family.
