Linda Johnson Mayes, 76, of North Chesterfield, Va. passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at her home.
Ms. Mayes was born August 11, 1942 in Johnston County, North Carolina to the late Preston Grayson Johnson and Nettie Ellen Parker Johnson.
She retired from Cadmus, formerly William Byrd Press printers, after 40 years of service. Her principle responsibility was in proofing publications which aligned with her love for reading.
She was devoted to her family, often meeting with them to share laughs and support when needed. Her absence will be felt especially during the annual beach excursion she shared with her siblings and in the bowling league she enjoyed over the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Elsie Johnson Kevorkian Rominger of Poquoson Va. Surviving include her siblings, Nelda Hall of their home, Clyde Johnson of Chester, Kay and her husband Kenny Woodcock of Chester, Jeff and his wife Loretta Johnson of Benson, NC.; 12 nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; and several great great nieces and nephews.
The family welcomes those who knew her to a Memorial Ceremony 4 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2018 at Bliley’s-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Road. Memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity.
